JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for producing machined parts operating a CNC machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with experienced operators to perform machine setups, adjustments, and inspection of products produced.
- Studies drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as the best method and sequence of operations needed to fabricate parts.
- Help with the selection of appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure schedule and deliverable deadlines are achieved.
- Setup and operate conventional lathes and mills.
- Setup and operate CNC 3&4 axis lathes with live tools.
- Ability to change speeds and feeds per tooling and material requirements,
- Work with QC, engineering, and production on a daily basis.
- Will provide “G” codes as necessary for programming numerically controlled machines using FANUC or similar controls to produce parts.
- Writing programs for the CNC machines and utilizing Gibbscam software to create programs.
- Ensuring the CNC programs are done, and downloaded and the CNC machinists are cost-effectively producing finished details on the machines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skill
- Ability to interpret drawings, and standard precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and check threads.
- Basic understanding of metals and alloys.
- Carry out all common arithmetic operations such as addition, and subtraction using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, including calculating area, and geometry.
- Possesses analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues.
- Must be able to be effective in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- High School diploma or GED
Work Experience
- 4-5 years of experience in a metal fabricating environment with knowledge of machining.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
- Continuous standing and/or walking.
- Moderate physical effort- working frequently with average weights of ten to fifty pounds or continuously with lighter weights.
- Good eye/hand/foot coordination.
- Good visual acuity- cannot be colorblind.
- Ability to work in cold, hot, and/or dusty environments, with noisy conditions.
- Must be able to become forklift certified.
- Must be able to lift fifty pounds independently.
