Description:

We are seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) / Field Technician to assist with the sampling, observation, and testing of construction materials both in the field and in the laboratory. This contract-to-hire, onsite position based in Texas City, TX is ideal for individuals who are motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to start a career in construction materials testing. While no prior experience is required, candidates must be physically capable and have strong communication skills. A company vehicle is provided for job-related travel.

Main Duties & Responsibilties:

  • Assist with sampling and testing of construction materials (soils, concrete, asphalt).

  • Perform field testing of soils and conduct concrete observation and testing.

  • Monitor construction activities in alignment with project specifications.

  • Conduct laboratory testing for construction materials.

  • Support other technicians and professional staff on routine projects.

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and safety protocols at all times.

  • Complete all required documentation and communicate findings effectively.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as needed.

  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying conditions.

  • Physically able to lift 10–60 lbs regularly.

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and DOT physical.

  • Comfortable working around active construction environments.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • No experience required.

  • Must be able to safely operate in the field and follow testing procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACI – Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I.

  • ACI – Concrete Strength Testing Technician.

  • NICET Certification in Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt.

  • TXDOT Certification in Soils or Asphalt.

  • Previous experience supporting field crews or industrial construction projects.
