Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Test Technician to support Casing PSL Testing operations in Houston, TX. This is a contract, onsite position ideal for individuals with 5–7 years of mechanical testing experience, particularly in the oil and gas industry. This role involves hands-on setup and execution of mechanical tests, including test data logging, reporting, and equipment disassembly. Candidates must be confident working independently, physically capable of operating shop machinery, and proficient with common mechanical tools.

Main Duties & Responsibilties:

  • Set up and assist with mechanical testing of oil and gas casing products.

  • Use measurement tools (e.g., torque wrenches, gauges) to gather accurate data.

  • Document test results in detailed reports and communicate project updates.

  • Assist with the assembly and disassembly of mechanical and engineering test setups.

  • Operate mechanical tools including torque tools, drills, grinders, hoists, and other shop equipment.

  • Learn and adapt to digital test software to execute and log tests.

  • Work onsite Monday through Friday (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) with potential for overtime.

  • Support the Technology team and report findings to the Engineering Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Test Technician in oil and gas or high-reliability industries.

  • Strong hands-on mechanical skills with the ability to work independently on testing setups.

  • Proficiency in measurement tools and understanding of data collection procedures.

  • Familiarity with mechanical tools such as wrenches, grinders, torque tools, and hoists.

  • Comfortable with heavy lifting and active shop work.

  • Capable of learning and using test software systems and following detailed procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of mechanical testing experience (not limited to assembly or general manufacturing).

  • Proven ability to write and deliver technical reports and provide project status updates.

  • Experience operating shop equipment in a hands-on test environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience testing downhole tools or other oil and gas-specific equipment.

  • Background in aerospace, defense, or heavy industrial testing is a strong plus.

  • Experience with digital logging tools or testing software for automated or semi-automated setups.

  • Long-term interest in a stable contract role with a leading testing team.
